1998 – A Resolution Regarding Moral Declension Across Our Nation

WHEREAS, public education has invoked perversions of the law to eliminate moral instruction which is consistent with the Word of God and Christianity, and

WHEREAS, institutions of higher learning have replaced both curricula and faculty with that which promotes Marxism, undermines moral values and conduct in their students, destroys the true heroes of our nation and revises history to conform to present-day, politically-correct ideologies, and

WHEREAS, all forms of media have promoted and favorably portrayed what the Bible clearly call immoral and abominable in the sight of God, advancing such causes as acceptance of homosexual conduct and lifestyles as normal, adultery, divorce, illegitimate children, abortion, and euthanasia, and have significantly contributed to the destruction of the biblical design for marriage and family, and

WHEREAS, government and its leaders have perverted the law handed down by our forefathers by granting civil rights to diseases, by taking away the rights of parents over their own children, by requiring recognition and provision of benefits to unmarried partners, by providing tax incentives and penalties to families that press both parents to work outside the home and put their children under state supported daycare, and have demonstrated themselves to be less than circumspect in their personal conduct, making them poor examples of leadership to our young people, and

WHEREAS, since these attacks have been made against God, His Word, true national history, home and family, marriage, and true freedom, there has been a marked increase of crime and violent behavior, including murder committed by children, domestic violence, suicide, much of which comes as a result of the rampant abuse of drugs and alcohol,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we the members of the Independent Baptist Fellowship of North America, now convened in Plymouth, Massachusetts, June 16-18, 1998, do hereby implore the help of God to call the people of this nation to repentance for the gross sins of denying God and His Word their rightful places of authority over all and to require the honest admission of catastrophic failure in the experiments conducted over the past thirty years to systematically remove and exclude all evidence of the many blessings of Christianity which have directly benefited the establishment of our nation, the successful and proper education of our children including an accurate understanding of history, the establishment of sound homes, strong families, moral individuals, and the moral good of all of our people.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we renew our commitment to spiritual revival of ourselves and of the people of our churches that through our ministries we may fulfill the Great Commission and bring the Truth to light for those who dwell in darkness, even in our own communities. May we also press the work of prayer, knowing that none of our labors will succeed except God supernaturally intervene.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that we express our profound grief that the leaders and people of our land who, while rightfully shocked by the advance of crime, violence and depravity of men, still tum for help everywhere else but to the Word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, where the only true and lasting solutions will be found.
