2026 – Resolution Commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America

WHEREAS July 4, 2026, marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and the founding of the United States of America; and

WHEREAS Almighty God is the sovereign Ruler over the affairs of men and nations, and “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD” (Psalm 33:12); and

WHEREAS we recognize with gratitude the providential hand of God in the establishment. preservation, and prosperity of the United States of America and

WHEREAS the freedoms secured through the founding of this nation., including the free exercise of religion, have enabled the unhindered proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the planting and growth of Bible-believing churches; and

WHEREAS Fundamental Independent Baptists have historically affirmed the authority of the Holy Scriptures, the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the autonomy of the local church, the priesthood of the believer, soul liberty, and the separation of church and state; and

WHEREAS we acknowledge that true liberty is found not merely in political freedom but in the salvation offered through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, who declared, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36); and

WHEREAS Scripture commands believers to pray for kings and all who are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty (1 Timothy 2: 1-2); and

WHEREAS our ultimate allegiance belongs not to any earthly nation but to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ;

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that we, the members of the Independent Baptist Fellowship of North America (IBFNA), meeting in conference at The Baptist Church of Danbury in Brookfield, Connecticut, June 23-25, 2026, do hereby commemorate the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America with gratitude to Almighty God for His manifold blessings upon this nation.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the inspired, preserved, and infallible Word of God as our sole authority for faith and practice, as well as our dedication to the historic doctrines of the Fundamental Independent Baptist movement, including the preaching of the Gospel, personal soul winning, biblical separation, holy living, and faithful support of worldwide missions.

BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that we encourage all members to be responsible Christian citizens, to pray faithfully for our national, state. and local leaders, and to exercise their civic responsibilities in a manner consistent with biblical convictions. We also call upon our congregation and community to seek God’s mercy, repent of sin, and tum to the Lord Jesus Christ, recognizing that righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that, as we celebrate the blessings of American liberty, we dedicate ourselves anew to the Great Commission, endeavoring to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to every creature until He returns.
